Inside Book:

From the terrifying case file that inspired the film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. From this New York Times bestselling author comes a shocking case of demonic possession, exorcism, and murder starring the legendary demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, who battled the Amityville Horror and whose real-life case files inspired The Conjuring Universe, which includes The Conjuring, Annabelle, and The Nun films. It was one of the most sensational murder trials of the 1980s. When Arne Cheyenne Johnson stabbed an acquaintance to death with a five-inch folding knife, Johnson presented one of the most shocking legal defenses in history: not guilty by virtue of demonic possession. As the press put it, “the Devil made me do it.” Johnson’s shocking story began months earlier, when his girlfriend’s eleven-year-old brother, David, encountered a spectral figure looming at the foot of the bed and then started showing telltale signs of demonic possession. David suddenly spoke in Latin, levitated, and suffered beatings at the hands of an invisible demon. After a team of Catholic priests failed to drive the demon out, the case was taken up by Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens had fought demons across the globe, but the Connecticut Devil would be one of their greatest challenges, and perhaps their most deadly. Now includes an 8-page photo insert documenting the possession with images from the Glatzel family and the Ed and Lorraine Warren collection.

Book Summary:

How scientists through the ages have conducted thought experiments using imaginary entities—demons—to test the laws of nature and push the frontiers of what is possible Science may be known for banishing the demons of superstition from the modern world. Yet just as the demon-haunted world was being exorcized by the enlightening power of reason, a new kind of demon mischievously materialized in the scientific imagination itself. Scientists began to employ hypothetical beings to perform certain roles in thought experiments—experiments that can only be done in the imagination—and these impish assistants helped scientists achieve major breakthroughs that pushed forward the frontiers of science and technology. Spanning four centuries of discovery—from René Descartes, whose demon could hijack sensorial reality, to James Clerk Maxwell, whose molecular-sized demon deftly broke the second law of thermodynamics, to Darwin, Einstein, Feynman, and beyond—Jimena Canales tells a shadow history of science and the demons that bedevil it. She reveals how the greatest scientific thinkers used demons to explore problems, test the limits of what is possible, and better understand nature. Their imaginary familiars helped unlock the secrets of entropy, heredity, relativity, quantum mechanics, and other scientific wonders—and continue to inspire breakthroughs in the realms of computer science, artificial intelligence, and economics today. The world may no longer be haunted as it once was, but the demons of the scientific imagination are alive and well, continuing to play a vital role in scientists' efforts to explore the unknown and make the impossible real.

Book Summary:

Do you want to understand how long the cycles are for global warming and man’s role in it? Do you want to understand the mythical story of Atlantis? What about COVID-19? In the groundbreaking book, Fire and Ice, author Michael James Meyer answers these questions and more. After many decades of Bible study, Meyer uncovered a mathematical formula for deciphering most of the Bible and Biblical prophecy. Among other things, this formula gave him a framework that provided approximate dates to many Biblical events. It helps answer a host of questions, such as: What is the message behind the building of the three large pyramids and the Sphinx? What are some of the key numbers for Biblical numerology? What is the “end of the world” prophecy in the Bible, including the resurrection? What will life on earth be like after the Lord comes and resurrects his people? Fire and Ice shows readers why the Bible is just as informative and relevant today as it was when it was first written.

Sean McMullen, one of Australia's leading genre writers, took America by storm with his sweeping Greatwinter Trilogy, a post-apocalyptic science fiction tour de force that won over critics and readers alike. Now McMullen delivers Voyage of the Shadowmoon, a fantasy epic of daunting skill and scope. The Shadowmoon is a small, unobtrusive wooden schooner whose passengers and crew are much more than they seem: Ferran, the Shadowmoon's lusty captain who dreams of power; Roval, the warrior-sorcerer; Velander and Terikel, priestesses of a nearly extinct sect; and the chivalrous vampire Laron, who has been trapped in a fourteen-year-old body for seven hundred years. They sail the coast, gathering useful information, passing as simple traders. But when they witness the awful power of Silverdeath, an uncontrollable doomsday weapon of awesome destructiveness, they realize they must act. But every single king, emperor, and despot covets Silverdeath's power. It will take all of their wits and more than a little luck if they hope to prevent one of these power-hungry fools from destroying the world. Their only advantage? The Shadowmoon. While it seems to be little more that a small trading vessel--too small for battle, too fat for speed—it is actually one of the most sophisticated vessels in the world, one that allows them to travel to places where no others would dare. They can only hope it will be enough to save them all before Silverdeath rains destruction across their entire world. The Exorcist

Book Summary:

Originally published in 1971, The Exorcist remains one of the most controversial novels ever written and went on to become a literary phenomenon. Inspired by a true story of a child’s demonic possession in the 1940s, William Peter Blatty created an iconic novel that focuses on Regan, the eleven-year-old daughter of a movie actress residing in Washington, D.C. A small group of overwhelmed yet determined individuals must rescue Regan from her unspeakable fate, and the drama that ensues is gripping and unfailingly terrifying. Two years after its publication, The Exorcist was, of course, turned into a wildly popular motion picture, garnering ten Academy Award nominations. On opening day of the film, lines of the novel’s fans stretched around city blocks. In Chicago, frustrated moviegoers used a battering ram to gain entry through the double side doors of a theater. In Kansas City, police used tear gas to disperse an impatient crowd who tried to force their way into a cinema. The three major television networks carried footage of these events; CBS’s Walter Cronkite devoted almost ten minutes to the story. The Exorcist was, and is, more than just a novel and a film: it is a true landmark. Purposefully raw and profane, The Exorcist still has the extraordinary ability to disturb readers and cause them to forget that it is “just a story.” Published here in this beautiful fortieth anniversary edition, it remains an unforgettable reading experience and will continue to shock and frighten a new generation of readers.

Book Summary:

The world’s leading psychiatric authority on demonic possession delves into the hidden world of exorcisms and his own transformation from cynic to believer over the course of his twenty-five-year career. Successful New York psychiatrist Richard Gallagher was skeptical yet intrigued when a hard-nosed, no-nonsense Catholic priest asked him to examine a woman for a possible exorcism. Meeting her, Gallagher was astonished. The woman’s behavior defied logic. In an instant, she could pinpoint a person’s secret weaknesses. She knew how individuals she’d never known had died, including Gallagher’s own mother, who passed away after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She spoke fluently in multiple languages, including Latin—but only when she was in a trance. This was not psychosis, Gallagher concluded. It was, in his scientific estimation, what could only be describe as paranormal ability. The woman wasn’t mentally disturbed—she was possessed. This remarkable case was the first of many that Gallagher would encounter. Sought after today by leaders of all faiths—ministers, priests, rabbis and imams, Gallagher has spent a quarter-century studying demonic activity and exorcisms throughout history and has witnessed more cases than any other psychiatrist in the world today. In this eerie and enthralling book, Gallagher chronicles his most famous cases for the first time, including: A professional who claimed her spiritualist mother had “assigned” her a spirit who “turned on her.” A petite woman—”90 pounds soaking wet”—who threw a 200-pound Lutheran deacon across the room to the horror of onlookers in a church hall; And “Julia,” the so-called Satanic queen and self-described witch, who exhibited “the most harrowing” case, a “once-in-a-century” possession. Going beyond horror movies and novels, Demonic Foes takes you deep into this hidden world, sharing in full details of these true-life tales of demonic possession.

Book Summary:

A paradigm-shifting book in the vein of Sapiens that brings a crucial Indigenous perspective to historical and cultural issues of history, education, money, power, and sustainability—and offers a new template for living. As an indigenous person, Tyson Yunkaporta looks at global systems from a unique perspective, one tied to the natural and spiritual world. In considering how contemporary life diverges from the pattern of creation, he raises important questions. How does this affect us? How can we do things differently? In this thoughtful, culturally rich, mind-expanding book, he provides answers. Yunkaporta’s writing process begins with images. Honoring indigenous traditions, he makes carvings of what he wants to say, channeling his thoughts through symbols and diagrams rather than words. He yarns with people, looking for ways to connect images and stories with place and relationship to create a coherent world view, and he uses sand talk, the Aboriginal custom of drawing images on the ground to convey knowledge. In Sand Talk, he provides a new model for our everyday lives. Rich in ideas and inspiration, it explains how lines and symbols and shapes can help us make sense of the world. It’s about how we learn and how we remember. It’s about talking to everyone and listening carefully. It’s about finding different ways to look at things. Most of all it’s about a very special way of thinking, of learning to see from a native perspective, one that is spiritually and physically tied to the earth around us, and how it can save our world. Sand Talk include 22 black-and-white illustrations that add depth to the text.

Book Summary:

The Open Access version of this book, available at www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781472453983, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivative 4.0 license. Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.

Book Summary:

This is a true story, a series of events that transpired in my life which I deemed necessary to expose and by so doing alert others to vigilance. Naturally, the subject matter is sensitive both for me and all parties involved. I can never discount the relevance of demons, deny their reality and their harassing ways. If and when I was to do so, I would magnify the role of human agents. Frequently, even mature Christians underestimate the magnitude of the spiritual warfare enlisted in from the time of the new birth. We are in a severe struggle, persistently and subtly driven by powerful, spiritual opposing forces beyond our comprehension. Often we rely on human resources and fail to use the spiritual source available to us through the power of the Holy Spirit. I fell in the fourth generation of my maternal fore-parents lineage to suffer unnecessary heartbreaking consequences because of spiritual ignorance. Since I came to see the light of Jesus Christ, I made up my mind to loose all yokes of bondage over my generation and the ones to come after me should Christ tarry. I now know demonic spirits are to be kept afar and never be trusted. Even though at times through subtlety we may be deceived to think that certain spirits work for the good and well-being of a person, such deception should be seen as a trap, a means of securing the individual into a mesh. Sooner or later, such individual will be caught unaware and conquered. It should never be a surprise how the Devil, the starch enemy of the saints, will use anyone, foe and often those who would be considered ally, to win a person over to cause him to fall. Read on and enjoy this treat to your spiritual health!

He’s getting older, he can’t seem to write anything new, he’s supposed to be recording a Midwinter holiday album, and he’s afraid he’s falling in love with Justin Moore, his manager. But Justin’s very good at keeping secrets, and he has a few -- like his demonic inheritance, his family’s history, and his crush on Kris Starr, rock and roll icon. Noone's best-selling series featuring Kris and Justin. Contains the stories: A Demon for Midwinter: Kris Starr used to be famous. Sold-out rock shows. Empathic talents. But he has a problem or two. He's having a hard time writing songs. It’s Midwinter, full of depressing holiday cheer. He's in love with Justin, his new manager, who has a talent for rescuing almost- or once-famous bands. And Justin’s hiding secrets: about literal demons, his past, and his own feelings for Kris ... Lightning in a Bottle: Despite his skill with a guitar, Adam’s never had much stage presence -- he leaves that to Lee, his band’s lead singer, who makes his lyrics rock. The problem is, Adam's lyrics are secret love letters for Lee, though he's never had the courage to say so. But when a legendary rock star and scandalous sex demon turn up at their show, Adam might finally figure out how to get everything he wants. Love Songs for Every Day: Kris and Justin don’t do interviews. Two years after demonic revelations, forever entwined with Kris Starr’s return to the spotlight, they’ll open up about pro-demon activism, classic rock, rescuing cats, and coffee versus tea -- plus what exactly happened to Justin that night, love songs, and happy endings. Sunlight and Gold: Can a rock star marry a demon? That question’s on Justin’s mind. He’s moved in with Kris; they’re wildly happy. He is half human, though -- and he likes the idea of the human ritual. But Kris Starr, rock legend, never has. So Justin can’t ask. Kris isn’t convinced he’s great at domesticity. But he’s pretty sure his half-demon boyfriend wants a very human commitment. And maybe Kris wants that, too. A Demon for Forever: A demon, a rock star, and wedding bells! Justin’s always wanted to get married and has thrown himself into wedding plans. But the world’s watching. Kris wants to give his demon fiancé a perfect day, whether that means carrot cake or support for Justin wearing a wedding dress. But Justin wants him to reconcile with his father, so Kris will have to try. The Demon's Choice: Kris has never been happier: back on tour, making music, and married to the love of his life, half-demon Justin. But an accident leaves Justin unable to use magic until his demon family offers him a terrible choice. Losing his magic leaves him empty until he’s shown a way to get it back. But if he agrees, he’ll give up his human half ... along with his life with Kris. Snowed In: Kit & Harry: Someone or something is causing magical blizzards at Fairleigh Hall. Book Summary:

Ariel Thomas has never been prone to reckless behavior, so picking up a gorgeous man from the roadside during her cross-country drive is totally out of character. She’s usually the kind of woman who keeps her doors locked and mace at the ready, but something about the stranger gives her the kind of goosebumps she doesn’t want to go away. Incubus John Tate is new on the job and totally out of his element. Secluded for twenty-eight years in a desert cult, he never knew his true father, Gulielmus, was a demon. When Gulielmus offers John freedom, John follows. Tainting souls seems a small price to pay in exchange. But when his first target turns out to be a sweet, quirky woman who’s as open-minded as he is inquisitive, his plans fall to the wayside. John doesn’t want to corrupt Ariel—he wants to be kept by her. John knows that having his father for a direct supervisor means there could be harsh penalties for insubordination, and Gulielmus wants him to seal the deal with Ariel’s soul or else move on to the next victim. But how can John do that when she’s managed to entrance him even more than he has captivated her?
