Book Summary:

To introduce you to my book you will find a variety of poems that will touch your heart in so many ways. My poetry tells of how as a child I was taught love that has followed and helped me throughout my lifetime. I have written many poems for our service men and women to show my appreciation and support for all they have done for us here at home. Those boys and girls are truly my heroes. In my book they can do no wrong. I have stories of situations in life from children and teens and adults and the trials and errors we all encounter throughout our life. When you read my work there will be times you will feel this love I was given in my life and how in my work I pass it on for others to feel and know its there for the ones who want to share it with me. Come into my world and within each page know the joy of reading my story form poetry that will place you within the story. Here is a sample of one of my poems that is within my book it is called -- A SOLDIERS PRAYER She cries silver tears the day he leaves, knowing her little man knows what it takes to be free. She waits with prayers whispered on the wind, for a mothers prayers never end. Within the spring showers there is a rainbow arc, she sees her little man from within her heart. With outstretched arms to the man above, whispers God let a mothers prayers be enough. For a mothers love is a love divine, as she shared her soul within this life. Raised a man to stand up for the free, and face what he doesn’t want us to ever see. With open arms God hold them there, for he is there he can see and hear. Young men trying to save the innocent ones, ones who are searching for peace just as our son. Gods glory can be seen upon the air, he works with our men for he is so aware. He floats among them as his wings are lifted high, from prayers from their mothers you and I. Then at battles end and there comes mornings light, those left standing looks through Gods eyes. They see all who were so brave till the end, and within a whisper they hear Amen.

Book Summary:

* Instant NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY bestseller * * GOODREADS CHOICE AWARD WINNER for BEST DEBUT and BEST ROMANCE of 2019 * * BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR* for VOGUE, NPR, VANITY FAIR, and more! * What happens when America's First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales? When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse. Heads of family, state, and other handlers devise a plan for damage control: staging a truce between the two rivals. What at first begins as a fake, Instragramable friendship grows deeper, and more dangerous, than either Alex or Henry could have imagined. Soon Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret romance with a surprisingly unstuffy Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations and begs the question: Can love save the world after all? Where do we find the courage, and the power, to be the people we are meant to be? And how can we learn to let our true colors shine through? Casey McQuiston's Red, White & Royal Blue proves: true love isn't always diplomatic. "I took this with me wherever I went and stole every second I had to read! Absorbing, hilarious, tender, sexy—this book had everything I crave. I’m jealous of all the readers out there who still get to experience Red, White & Royal Blue for the first time!" - Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners "Red, White & Royal Blue is outrageously fun. It is romantic, sexy, witty, and thrilling. I loved every second." - Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & The Six

Book Summary:

A comprehensive guide to emotional blockages in the energy body and their physical manifestations • Details how emotional trauma, long-term stress, and environmental influences cause energy blockages in the subtle body that affect the physical body • Explores more than 30 specific physical ailments, detailing the energetic origins of each condition and which meridians, chakras, and points are affected • Explains how to interpret and work with energies released in massage and during yoga practice In this comprehensive guide to subtle energy and its associated physical manifestations, Robert Henderson reveals how the discomfort and pain you carry in your physical body is related to the energies of the life you have experienced. The author explains the eight types of subtle energy: Emotional, which carries anger, fear, love, and other emotions; Mental, which affects patterns of behavior, beliefs, actions, and memories; Spiritual, which influences intuition, inspiration, and transcendent states; Sexual, which affects creativity, spontaneity, and excitement; Environmental, which arises from stress at work, tension at home, and other outside influences; Interpersonal, which comes from interactions with family, lovers, and friends; Ancestral, the energy of the lives of your parents up to the time of your conception; and Karmic, the energy of your past lives. Detailing how these energies are drawn in by the chakras and distributed throughout the body by the meridians, the author explains how suffering acute emotional trauma or long-term stress causes negative energies to accumulate in the energy body much like fat deposits. Our physical body reacts to these energy blockages, leading to physical conditions such as closed hips, tight hamstrings, digestive distress, chronic pain, and persistent tension in areas like the shoulders. The author explores more than 30 specific physical ailments, providing the energetic origins of each condition, the exact location of the corresponding energy blockage, and which meridians, chakras, and points are affected. He covers sexual energy in depth, explaining how to handle repressed energy as it is released during yoga or massage. As the author shows, physical ailments caused by the energies of hurtful life events can be healed through massage and yoga, allowing you to become open to the free and spontaneous circulation of energy through the subtle body.

Book Summary:

Note for Note Book 5 (Scatter) sees the river finally reach the ocean, roughly one thousand years after the events of Book 1 (Plough). It is the modern era in which people move at increasing speed and with increasing sophistication and increasing brutality, but essentially make the same choices as their ancestors did, although the context is absolutely different. There is a global transfer of goods, of culture and of those displaced and seeking refuge, the extent of which has never been seen before, but to a large extent people have forgotten their connections with what has gone before, and this ignorance is a sometimes fatal disconnection. The lives of a would-be patron of the arts and his partner connect with the lives of another couple, a painter and a dancer, in a harbour city where the mountain range also descends towards the ocean. These four people are further connected by the events that affect a homeless woman, a shoeshine man and a marginalised street artist. All of them are affected, knowingly or not, by the nature of events in the past, the influence of which changes the way each person’s present comes into being in a blend of imagination, fantasy and substance. One of them will float out to sea.

Book Summary:

A kaleidoscopic exploration that traverses history, literature, art, and science to reveal humans' unique and vibrant relationship with color. We have an extraordinary connection to color—we give it meanings, associations, and properties that last millennia and span cultures, continents, and languages. In The World According to Color, James Fox takes seven elemental colors—black, red, yellow, blue, white, purple, and green—and uncovers behind each a root idea, based on visual resemblances and common symbolism throughout history. Through a series of stories and vignettes, the book then traces these meanings to show how they morphed and multiplied and, ultimately, how they reveal a great deal about the societies that produced them: reflecting and shaping their hopes, fears, prejudices, and preoccupations. Fox also examines the science of how our eyes and brains interpret light and color, and shows how this is inherently linked with the meanings we give to hue. And using his background as an art historian, he explores many of the milestones in the history of art—from Bronze Age gold-work to Turner, Titian to Yves Klein—in a fresh way. Fox also weaves in literature, philosophy, cinema, archaeology, and art—moving from Monet to Marco Polo, early Japanese ink artists to Shakespeare and Goethe to James Bond. By creating a new history of color, Fox reveals a new story about humans and our place in the universe: second only to language, color is the greatest carrier of cultural meaning in our world.

In fact, many of these little gems got me through some pretty tough Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome bouts. Perhaps, more importantly, I have also found these practices to be extremely useful in recognizing (and letting go of) the unhealthy energy drains in my life. This compilation takes both a physical and a mental approach to energy and vitality. Thus, in the first half of the work, the focus is in on energizing, inspiring, and motivating. Then, our attention is turned inwards. In essence, we are searching for hints about where our energy is misused or misplaced. In using this knowledge, we can then literally release stagnant energy, freeing it up for daily use.

Book Summary:

A colorful primer to the symbolism and lore from around the world for over sixty flowers to help you add meaning to any floral gift. Should you send a rose of crimson or of white to the one you love? What gift of flowers best expresses thanks to a dear friend? From ancient days, long before words complicated what we say to one another, flowers have been our messengers, invested with our most cherished feelings. Illustrated with luscious collages by acclaimed artist Ann Field, this enchanting tribute to the power and symbolism of flowers offers a contemporary introduction to an age-old tradition. The text draws on botanical, historical, and mythological sources worldwide, from ancient Rome to Victorian England, from Asia to the Americas, presenting portraits of over sixty blossoms favored for all time. In Persia, for instance, the black medulla of the red tulip was said to represent the lover’s heart, burnt to a coal by love’s passion. To Victorians, lavender signified a broken trust, hollyhocks fertility, and nasturtiums a jest or whimsy. Blending fact, folktale, natural history, and original art, The Meaning of Flowers explores the language and lore of nature’s most intimate and beautiful gifts.

Book Summary:

SHORTLISTED FOR THE MAN BOOKER PRIZE 2016 A richly mythic, colour-saturated tale from the Man Booker-shortlisted author of Swimming Home—Deborah Levy explores the violently primal bond between mother and daughter. Two women arrive in a Spanish village—a dreamlike place caught between the desert and the ocean—seeking medical advice and salvation. One of the strangers suffers from a mysterious illness: spontaneous paralysis confines her to a wheelchair, her legs unusable. The other, her daughter Sofia, has spent years playing the reluctant detective in this mystery, struggling to understand her mother's illness. Surrounded by the oppressive desert heat and the mesmerising figures who move through it, Sofia waits while her mother undergoes the strange programme of treatments invented by Dr. Gomez. Searching for a cure to a defiant and quite possibly imagined disease, ever more entangled in the seductive, mercurial games of those around her, Sofia finally comes to confront and reconcile the disparate fragments of her identity. Hot Milk is a labyrinth of violent desires, primal impulses, and surreally persuasive internal logic. Examining female rage and sexuality, Deborah Levy's dazzling new novel explores the strange and monstrous nature of motherhood, testing the bonds of parent and child to breaking point.

Book Summary:

The book is the volume of “The History of Literature in Song, Liao, Jin and Xixia of Dynasty ” among a series of books of “Deep into China Histories”. The earliest known written records of the history of China date from as early as 1250 BC, from the Shang dynasty (c. 1600–1046 BC) and the Bamboo Annals (296 BC) describe a Xia dynasty (c. 2070–1600 BC) before the Shang, but no writing is known from the period The Shang ruled in the Yellow River valley, which is commonly held to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. However, Neolithic civilizations originated at various cultural centers along both the Yellow River and Yangtze River. These Yellow River and Yangtze civilizations arose millennia before the Shang. With thousands of years of continuous history, China is one of the world's oldest civilizations, and is regarded as one of the cradles of civilization. The Zhou dynasty (1046–256 BC) supplanted the Shang and introduced the concept of the Mandate of Heaven to justify their rule. The central Zhou government began to weaken due to external and internal pressures in the 8th century BC, and the country eventually splintered into smaller states during the Spring and Autumn period. These states became independent and warred with one another in the following Warring States period. Much of traditional Chinese culture, literature and philosophy first developed during those troubled times. In 221 BC Qin Shi Huang conquered the various warring states and created for himself the title of Huangdi or "emperor" of the Qin, marking the beginning of imperial China. However, the oppressive government fell soon after his death, and was supplanted by the longer-lived Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). Successive dynasties developed bureaucratic systems that enabled the emperor to control vast territories directly. In the 21 centuries from 206 BC until AD 1912, routine administrative tasks were handled by a special elite of scholar-officials. Young men, well-versed in calligraphy, history, literature, and philosophy, were carefully selected through difficult government examinations. China's last dynasty was the Qing (1644–1912), which was replaced by the Republic of China in 1912, and in the mainland by the People's Republic of China in 1949.Chinese history has alternated between periods of political unity and peace, and periods of war and failed statehood – the most recent being the Chinese Civil War (1927–1949). China was occasionally dominated by steppe peoples, most of whom were eventually assimilated into the Han Chinese culture and population. Between eras of multiple kingdoms and warlordism, Chinese dynasties have ruled parts or all of China; in some eras control stretched as far as Xinjiang and Tibet, as at present. Traditional culture, and influences from other parts of Asia and the Western world (carried by waves of immigration, cultural assimilation, expansion, and foreign contact), form the basis of the modern culture of China.

Book Summary:

R. Andrew Chesnut offers a fascinating portrayal of Santa Muerte, a skeleton saint whose cult has attracted millions of devotees over the past decade. Although condemned by mainstream churches, this folk saint's supernatural powers appeal to millions of Latin Americans and immigrants in the U.S. Devotees believe the Bony Lady (as she is affectionately called) to be the fastest and most effective miracle worker, and as such, her statuettes and paraphernalia now outsell those of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Saint Jude, two other giants of Mexican religiosity. In particular, Chesnut shows Santa Muerte has become the patron saint of drug traffickers, playing an important role as protector of peddlers of crystal meth and marijuana; DEA agents and Mexican police often find her altars in the safe houses of drug smugglers. Yet Saint Death plays other important roles: she is a supernatural healer, love doctor, money-maker, lawyer, and angel of death. She has become without doubt one of the most popular and powerful saints on both the Mexican and American religious landscapes.
