Inside Book:

From the author and illustrator duo who created the award-winning I Have the Right to Be a Child and I Have the Right to Save My Planet comes this beautifully illustrated third book in the series. I Have the Right to Culture explores a child’s right to be curious and to experience all of humanity’s shared knowledge, including music, art, dance and much more. When a child is born, they learn the language of their parents, they sing the songs of their grandparents and they eat the delicious food that their family prepares. They also start to wonder about the lives of other children who live far away. What languages do they speak? What songs do they sing? And what games do they play? Every child has the right to learn about the world they live in, including its history and its inventions. Every child has the right to learn about artists, about writers, about potters and photographers and architects, about musicians and dancers and poets. All of humanity’s treasures are for sharing, and every child has the right to know about what has come before them! Children have the right to partake in culture as proclaimed in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Told from the perspective of a child, this colorful and vibrant book explores what it means to be a child who has the right to find beauty in their world. To achieve food security for all and protect health, we need functional, equitable, and sustainable food systems. Food systems are highly complex networks of individuals and institutions that depend on governance and policy leadership. This book explains how interconnected food systems and policies affect diets and nutrition in high-, middle-, and low-income countries. In tandem with food policy, food systems determine the availability, affordability, and nutritional quality of the food supply, which influences the diets that people are willing and able to consume. Readers will become familiar with both domestic and international food policy processes and actors, and they will be able to critically analyze and debate how policy and science affect diet and nutrition outcomes.

An intimate portrait of some of the processes that have allowed Mary Anne Radmacher to live life how she chooses. And that can help you to live life how you choose too. Live a meaningful life of creative confidence and radical acceptance. This motivational book goes beyond finding your life goals. With the help of the incredible stories and thoughtful writing prompts in Lean Forward Into Your Life, you will learn how to: • Begin each day as if it were on purpose • Listen hard, risk love, and play with abandon • Live an uncommon life each and every day Readers of personal development books and self-help books for women like Carry On, Warrior; Big Magic; or titles by Brené Brown, such as Daring Greatly and Rising Strong, will love Lean Forward Into Your Life.

Book Summary:

A British infantryman shares his harrowing story of life on the frontlines of WWII, from the North African Campaign to the invasion of Germany. In April 1939, when Bill Cheall joined the famous Yorkshire infantry regiment known as the Green Howards, he could not have imagined the drama, trauma, rewards and anguish that awaited him. But he recounts it all here, in this vivid memoir of service and courage under fire. As a Green Howard, Cheall was on the receiving end of the Nazis' Blitzkrieg and was evacuated exhausted. Then, courtesy of the Queen Mary, he shipped off to North Africa as part of Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery's Eight Army. After their victory in Tunisia, Cheall went on to the invasion of Sicily. The Green Howards then returned to England to be in the vanguard of the Normandy Landings on Gold Beach—where Cheall was wounded. Once he recovered, Cheall returned to the war zone and finished the war as a Regimental Policeman in occupied Germany. It is a remarkable story told with modesty, humor, and an eye for detail.

Book Summary:

In all six of its volumes The Broadview Anthology of British Literature presents British literature in a truly distinctive light. Fully grounded in sound literary and historical scholarship, the anthology takes a fresh approach to many canonical authors, and includes a wide selection of work by lesser-known writers. The anthology also provides wide-ranging coverage of the worldwide connections of British literature, and it pays attention throughout to issues of race, gender, class, and sexual orientation. It includes comprehensive introductions to each period, providing in each case an overview of the historical and cultural as well as the literary background. It features accessible and engaging headnotes for all authors, extensive explanatory annotations, and an unparalleled number of illustrations and contextual materials. Innovative, authoritative and comprehensive, The Broadview Anthology of British Literature has established itself as a leader in the field. The full anthology comprises six bound volumes, together with an extensive website component; the latter has been edited, annotated, and designed according to the same high standards as the bound book component of the anthology, and is accessible by using the passcode obtained with the purchase of one or more of the bound volumes. For the third edition of this volume a considerable number of changes have been made. Newly prepared, for example, is a substantial selection from Baldassare Castiglione’s The Courtier, presented in Thomas Hoby’s influential early modern English translation. Thomas Kyd’s The Spanish Tragedy is another major addition. Also new to the anthology are excerpts from Thomas Dekker’s plague pamphlets. We have considerably expanded our representation of Elizabeth I’s writings and speeches, as well as providing several more cantos from Edmund Spenser’s Faerie Queene and adding selections from Sir Philip Sidney’s Arcadia. We have broadened our coverage, too, to include substantial selections of Irish, Gaelic Scottish, and Welsh literature. (Perhaps most notable of the numerous authors in this section are two extraordinary Welsh poets, Dafydd ap Gwilym and Gwerful Mechain.) Mary Sidney Herbert’s writings now appear in the bound book instead of on the companion website. Margaret Cavendish, previously included in volume 3 of the full anthology, will now also be included in this volume; we have added a number of her poems, with an emphasis on those with scientific themes. The edition features two new Contexts sections: a sampling of “Tudor and Stuart Humor,” and a section on “Levellers, Diggers, Ranters, and Covenanters.” New materials on emblem books and on manuscript culture have also been added to the “Culture: A Portfolio” contexts section. There are many additions the website component as well—including Thomas Deloney’s Jack of Newbury also published as a stand-alone BABL edition). We are also expanding our online selection of transatlantic material, with the inclusion of writings by John Smith, William Bradford, and Anne Bradstreet.

Squadrons moved to south-eastern England to counter the V1 flying bomb offensive, where daring pilots pioneered the technique of tipping the V1 over with the aircraft's wingtip to disorientate the bomb. Andrew Thomas also investigates the role played by the modified Spitfire squadrons after the V1 offensive, both in the attack on Germany and after the war in Malaya and Palestine. First-hand stories, photographs and colour profiles complete this account of the aces who flew the most powerful Spitfire variant ever built.

Varied and original, ‘A Thousand Thoughts’ aims to inspire, to provoke thought, to raise a smile and to comfort along the journey. Incorporating poems on such subjects as love, loss, hope, comedy, nature, fantasy, myth and historic events. Poetry holds a key to unlock the inner thoughts and imagination of the reader, this unique compilation of poems by David Penny is open to interpretation, using the vehicle of the mind to travel along the route. With such variation, there surely will be something for everyone in this book.
