Inside Book:

"No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." Work for Him. Rest in Him. The Vine is the sole provider for the branch. The branch needs only to obey. The care and nutrients the branch receives from the Vine are more than enough to bear all the fruit it can handle. This simple work is written in such a way as to make God's Word clear to anyone who would listen. Andrew Murray was able to reach the young and underprivileged of his day with his straightforward preaching and writing. And as he lived, fully abiding in the Lord, so these words of Christ are made clear for another century. Moody Classics Of all the factors influencing our spiritual growth and development, pivotal books play a key role. Learning from those who have walked the path and fought the fight brings wisdom and strengthens resolve. And hearing the familiar chords of kingdom living sung by voices from other times can penetrate cultural barriers that limit our allegiance to the King. To this end, Moody Publishers is honored to introduce the first six volumes in what is to be an ongoing series of spiritual classics. Selected for their enduring influence and timeless perspective, these new editions promise to shape the lives of spiritual pilgrims for generations to come.

Book Summary:

She wants faith, hope, and love. She wants help and healing. She wants to hear and be heard, to see and be seen. She wants things set right. She wants to know what is true—not partly true, or sometimes true, or almost true. She wants to see Truth itself, face-to-face. But here, now, these things are all cloudy. Hope is tinged with hurt. Faith is shaded by doubt. Lesser, broken things masquerade as love. How does she find something permanent when the world around her is always changing, when not even she can stay the same? And if she finds it, how does she hold on? She Reads Truth tells the stories of two women who discovered, through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away. Infused with biblical application and Scripture, this book is not just about two characters in two stories, but about one Hero and one Story. Every image points to the bigger picture—that God and His Word are true. Not because of anything we do, but because of who He is. Not once, not occasionally, but right now and all the time. Sometimes it takes everything moving to notice the thing that doesn’t move. Sometimes it takes telling two very different stories to notice how the Truth was exactly the same in both of them. For anyone searching for a solid foundation to cling to, She Reads Truth is a rich and honest Bible-filled journey to finally find permanent in a world that’s passing away.

Book Summary:

The nature of Christ is a very important subject that caused a serious dissension within the Church in the fifth century, in 451 AD. When the theological dialogue started as an effort towards the unity of churches, the subject had to be discussed. Therefore, our Orthodox Church found it necessary to issue a book which presents its concept in this regard in a language fit for theological dialogues. This subject (the Nature of Christ) was taught by me to the students of the Seminary "St. Mark Theological College" in 1984 in the form of lectures which I delivered to them in St. Bishoy Monastery, Sheheit Desert, as part of the courses of comparative Theology. The lectures were printed merely for the use of the students. The same lectures were afterwards translated into English in Ottawa, Canada, in 1980 and became available in English only for six years... We had to print them in Arabic for the students of the Seminary and its branches and for the benefit of those who are interested in theological studies whether ministers or ordinary individuals.. and whoever has the desire-from other churches to be acquainted with our concept of Christology. The first theological dialogue we attended on this subject was in Vienna, Austria in September 1971 AD convened by the ProOriente Group. In this dialogue we reached a theological formula that was accepted by our Catholic brothers and those in the old Oriental orthodox churches: the Syrians, Arminians, Ethiopians and Indians. It was an important dialogue indeed, for the dissension that occurred in the fifth century had distorted the face of every church before the other.. But now the way is open for a common understanding. Then, there was an official agreement with the Catholic churches after 17 years of differences (since 1988), based on the previous understanding. The agreement was recorded in a concise "Statement" which you will find at the end of this book. There was another dialogue, in more detail, with our brothers in the Byzantine Orthodox Churches in St. Bishoy Monastery, Sheheit Desert in 1989 AD. It was attended by the theologians of twenty Orthodox Churches and was followed by another meeting of the priestly representatives of the Orthodox churches in Chambesy, Geneva, in 1990. Now, seeing it is necessary to make our people acquainted with the details and evidences that prove our concept of the Nature of Christ, and since the Pro-Oriente Group is convening a religious conference for the representatives of all Churches at the end of October 1991 to present to them the Agreed Statement on Christology. And since we were asked to present a paper on the subject and deliver it as a lecture in the conference. Therefore, we proceeded to print the former lectures delivered in the Seminary in 1984 as a book to be presented to the conference and to be available in Arabic and in English for all who are interested. I am the vine, you are the branches. We can become downtrodden when we don’t see lasting results. It is only when we turn to God and put our trust in Him, that we experience true change. Follow along in this delightful allegory as the caterpillar meets a butterfly who offers hope for a new life. Drawn to a mysterious vineyard, he learns the challenging lessons of faith. The vinedresser tends the branches in this special vineyard and brings about glorious change, for an abundant harvest!

Book Summary:

NATIONAL BESTSELLER The true story of two African-American brothers who were kidnapped and displayed as circus freaks, and whose mother endured a 28-year struggle to get them back. The year was 1899 and the place a sweltering tobacco farm in the Jim Crow South town of Truevine, Virginia. George and Willie Muse were two little boys born to a sharecropper family. One day a white man offered them a piece of candy, setting off events that would take them around the world and change their lives forever. Captured into the circus, the Muse brothers performed for royalty at Buckingham Palace and headlined over a dozen sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. They were global superstars in a pre-broadcast era. But the very root of their success was in the color of their skin and in the outrageous caricatures they were forced to assume: supposed cannibals, sheep-headed freaks, even "Ambassadors from Mars." Back home, their mother never accepted that they were "gone" and spent 28 years trying to get them back. Through hundreds of interviews and decades of research, Beth Macy expertly explores a central and difficult question: Where were the brothers better off? On the world stage as stars or in poverty at home? TRUEVINE is a compelling narrative rich in historical detail and rife with implications to race relations today.

Book Summary:

Within this third volume is the whole treatise, initially presented in two parts: “The Mystery of the True Vine” and “The Fruit of the Vine” From the early days of Christianity the Vine/ vineyard has been a cornerstone of the church as evidenced in the following: Of all the great individuals called to spread the Gospel, few have reached the ability C. Spurgeon and Andrew Murray had. In this series, we have assembled not only Murray’s best works but also his most enduring, which are now classics in the Christian community. Andrew was one who wrote to interpret the Scriptures in such a way that Christians were free to believe and experience the grace of God. The obstacles to such lives included half-hearted surrender to God, a lack of confidence in the anointing of the Spirit, and a deep-rooted skepticism about the power of prayer. He believed that God had done everything necessary for people to live rich, productive, meaningful lives that participated in the life of God.

Book Summary:

The Lithic Garden offers innovative perspectives on the role of ornament in medieval church design. Focusing on the foliate friezes articulating iconic French monuments such as Amiens Cathedral, it demonstrates that church builders strategically used organic motifs to integrate the interior and exterior of their structures, thus reinforcing the connections and distinctions between the entirety of the sacred edifice and the profane world beyond its boundaries. With this exquisitely illustrated monograph, Mailan S. Doquang argues that, contrary to widespread belief, monumental flora was not just an extravagant embellishment or secondary byproduct, but a semantically-charged, critical design component that inflected the stratified spaces of churches in myriad ways. By situating the proliferation of foliate friezes within the context of the Crusades, The Lithic Garden provides insights into the networks of exchange between France, Byzantium, and the Levant, contributing to the "global turn" in art and architectural History.

And hearing the familiar chords of kingdom living sung by voices from other times can penetrate cultural barriers that limit our allegiance to the King. To this end, Moody Publishers is honored to introduce the first six volumes in what is to be an ongoing series of spiritual classics. Selected for their enduring influence and timeless perspective, these new editions promise to shape the lives of spiritual pilgrims for generations to come. ey. One of the most widely read books of all time, this adventure reveals John Bunyan's intense grasp of the Scriptures. Penned while in prison for refusing to compromise the gospel, The Pilgrim's Progress is a guide for the journey from death to life. The times have changed, but the landmarks and adversaries are very much the same. In How to Pray, R.A. Torrey deals with the key elements of life-changing prayer, such as praying in the Spirit, abiding in Christ, obstacles to prayer, the best times to pray, seeking revival through prayer, and more. Torrey outlines a practical strategy for living life in conversation with God."The intelligent child of God must be driven to say, 'I must pray, pray, pray. I must put all my energy and all my heart into prayer. Whatever else I do, I must pray.'" Stunning and forthright, R.A. Torrey's "little book on prayer" is a reflection of the writer who once had it said about him, "One wonders if there has ever lived a man who did so many things well for Christ."

Book Summary:

The Vine is not an apologetic. It is not a self-help book, nor is it about saving others. It may be a declaration – an amalgamation of thoughts knit together with the motif of a vine – a theological algorithm leading to the Church’s destiny as the Bride of Christ. The major premise of The Vine is that of God’s overarching plan and purpose for the church, the Bride of Christ. It follows a minor motif of the nature and husbandry of a grapevine. The Vine explores God’s covenants, dispensations, and revelations, upon which the life of the faith-vine depends—a novel approach to the beginning, growth, and destiny of the church. Combining the two premises leads to a fulfilling conclusion.

Let not your hearts be troubled . . . The opening words from John 14 frame the balance of this sermon to the disciples. Immediately following the Passover supper and the washing of their feet, our Lord preaches one last sermon to his faithful friends and disciples--a sermon full of longing, full of promise, full of hope, and full of disclosures about their future, the work of the Holy Spirit, and key verses supporting the doctrine of the Trinity.John 14-16 presents a fascinating farewell address from Jesus to his disciples. These chapters show us the heart of our Savior and his love for his disciples in a time of anxiety--not only their anxiety but his own, as he knows that the shadow of the cross has now grown dark across him and there is no place else for him to go. No ministry remains for him now except to these disciples, and then ultimately to the cross itself. Even as he, in his own humanity, was troubled in the prospect of his suffering, he turned to minister to the disciples in their time of trouble.

Book Summary:

Traditional and still prevalent accounts of late antique literature draw a clear distinction between 'pagan' and 'Christian' forms of poetry: whereas Christian poetry is taken seriously in terms its contribution to culture and society at large, so-called pagan or secular poetry is largely ignored, as though it has no meaningful part to play within the late antique world. The Myth of Paganism sets out to deconstruct this view of two contrasting poetic traditions and proposes in its place a new integrated model for the understanding of late antique poetry. As the book argues, the poet of Christ and the poet of the Muses were drawn together into an active, often provocative, dialogue about the relationship between Christianity and the Classical tradition and, ultimately, about the meaning of late antiquity itself. An analysis of the poetry of Nonnus of Panopolis, author of both a 'pagan' epic about Dionysus and a Christian translation of St John's Gospel, helps to illustrate this complex dialectic between pagan and Christian voices.

Book Summary:

Do you find yourself living in regret and fear more than in today’s reality? God calls us to serve Him in the current moment rather than worry about the past or the future. In He Walks with Me, Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe explores the I AM statements of God—from His burning-bush conversation with Moses, to His powerful reassurances to the Israelites, to Jesus’s startling claims to be the Light of the World, the Good Shepherd, and the True Vine. The more we understand the truths behind these words, the more free we are to enjoy God’s presence right now. As Dr. Wiersbe writes, “My past may discourage me and my future may frighten me, but the life I now live today can be enriching and encouraging because Christ lives in me.”

Book Summary:

King of Light is the title of a series that entail: Book of Genesis Part I (the Creation of the World), Book of John Part I (the Path of the Ministry of the Gospel), and Book of John Part II (the Path of the Cross). They go through the books of the Bible (Genesis chapters 1-9, and John) providing commentary verse-by-verse, in light of God's new era, the Era of Love or "Sarang Shi Dae" in Korean. (Sarang Shi Dae literally translates to "Love Era" or "Love Epoch"). King of Light: the Book of John Part 1 and Part 2 take us through the footsteps of Jesus during His ministry, revealing His work, words and mission, which ultimately led to the slaughter but certainly didn't end there. This book, King of Light: Book of John Part II: The Path of the Cross, covers chapters 10-21 of the Gospel according to John, and takes us through each chapter that beautifully and poignantly reveals the movement of Jesus, starting from the time of His appearance in John 1. By taking a look at the "First Coming" of Jesus with the spiritually opened Word of the Era of Love, we can discover the spiritually cataclysmic shift that happened from one era to another, and know that another similar shift is in the making. Many believers will know that when Jesus came to this earth in the flesh, "He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him" (John 1:11). King of Light: The Book of John shows that this was the marker of time in which the Gospel, and no longer the Law, was "the light". The Law was "the light" during its time as the light, but when the one who brought completion to the Law arrived at the scene, there were those in the Law who "didn't recognize him" (John 1:10). Nevertheless, Jesus was the Messiah and fulfilled and brought completion to what we see as the Old Testament, that is, the Law, in which animal sacrifices were offered so that God's direct connection with man could be made. Jesus on the cross was the final sacrifice, and it brought down the curtain of the Law (Matt. 27:51, Acts 17:24). After Jesus' arrival, those who received Him as Truth could make a direct connection with God through Jesus. It wasn't until He resurrected and ascended, that afterwards the Holy Spirit, the same Holy Spirit in Him during His ministry on earth, came upon Mark's Upper Room and rested inside the disciples and in those who would proclaim "the Good News". Now, the time of Christ's return is not only more imminent than before, but the meaning and significance of a "return" must be tore open to expose the "the Even Better News" that it really is (see Lee's books the Food for the Era of Love series.) This is significant because it reveals how God desires to tear open another curtain, the curtain of the literal Word as well as the veil over our eyes, thus exposing another "shift" that's analogous to Christ's "First Coming". The Spirit of His Second Coming rests upon this earth, and goes in search of those who receive the Word opened in the Spirit. The time of Christ's First Coming can be seen as a parallel to the Era of Love, that is, the Second Coming. Just as, at the time of the First Coming, the Word became flesh and went to His own, in the Second Coming, that which fulfills and brings completion to the Gospel first arrives as the Word in the Spirit. The Era of Love is when that which fulfills and brings completion to the Gospel (and ultimately to Scripture as a whole) arrives and moves in the Spirit as Love. The arrival isn't a physical one (in the way of certain popular imaginations) but initially, a spiritual one as the Word—that is, the Word opened in the Spirit. *This book includes a special, short testimony by Young-Rock's daughter, Heeseung Lee, who briefly shares her journey from South Korea to the U.S., having received God's mission for her to send the Era of Love to the various people she met during her time in the U.S. **Scripture quotes from WEB, in public domain.

Book Summary:

Nicodemus appears to be unaware that the personal work of the Spirit has always been essential for inclusion within God’s covenant. The Holy Spirit is the life of Christ in his church … A new covenant missionary would be inept without the filling of the Spirit in addition to the general work of the Spirit in regeneration … Holy Spirit charisms are necessary for the church to minister as the body of Christ. The Spirit is the means of the establishment of the world church as the new covenant people of God … The Pentecost language miracle indicated the world domain of the gospel. God has planned something better than rich cultural/ religious traditions which have no power to save, namely, membership in the new covenant and the blessing of spiritual union with Christ the life-giving Spirit. - from the text of The Biblical Spirit
